About Neon Joust

Neon Joust puts you on a pixel mount in a neon arena where you joust against increasingly skilled opponents. Flap your mount's wings to gain altitude and angle your lance downward for the strike — the jousting rule is simple: the higher lance wins. Time your flaps to position above your opponent at the moment of collision. Each defeated enemy drops an egg you must collect before it hatches into a tougher opponent. The arena features floating platforms that create tactical advantages and lava below that punishes low flying. Two-button gameplay (flap and move) creates a surprising depth of aerial combat where height management and timing determine every joust's outcome.

How to Play

Tips & Strategies

Height advantage is everything — always try to be above your opponent at the moment of contact. Short, controlled flaps give better height management than holding the button. Use platforms as launching pads for high-altitude attacks. Collect eggs immediately; hatched enemies are much harder to defeat. When facing multiple enemies, lure them to one side of the arena and attack from above after they cluster. The lava rises periodically — don't get caught flying too low. Against fast enemies, a retreating flap-and-turn strategy works better than head-on charges. Manage your momentum; overshooting after a kill leaves you vulnerable.

The History Behind Neon Joust

Neon Joust is inspired by Joust (1982), one of the most creative arcade games of the golden era. Williams Electronics' original Joust featured cooperative two-player gameplay and the unique lance-height combat system that made it stand apart from shooters. The flap-to-fly mechanic was borrowed by countless games, including Flappy Bird decades later. Joust was inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame in 2018. The egg collection mechanic added strategic depth — defeated enemies weren't truly gone until you grabbed their egg. Neon Joust preserves these innovative mechanics while adding the visual flair of modern neon pixel art.
